What are YOU doing this weekend in Roseville?

Arabella the theater-goer in the lobby
of the Tower Theater.

What are your plans for this weekend?  We are super excited about ours!

First up, we are going to opening night of Suessical the Musical at the Tower Theatre on Friday night. At only $5.00/kids, $10.00/seniors, and $12/adult, tickets are a bargain for a super fun night out! Come support our AMAZING local theater, and have fun as a family - everyone loves Dr. Suess! (I think, but if you don't please leave a comment and tell me why).  We're going on opening night because Arabella is already a theater hound and we'll most likely be hitting this show more than once.

The show runs from this weekend through September 9th with showtimes on Fridays at 7 pm, Saturday at 7 pm, and Sunday at 2pm.

You can also buy tickets online and see showtimes and days here: http://events.sacbee.com/roseville_ca/events/show/272948067-seussical-the-musical

Pre-show we will be having our usual Friday evening meal of Bella Familia Pizza obtained at Roseville Brewing Company - did you know that Roseville has it's own Brewing Company?  It's located at 501 Derek Place (off of Washington Boulevard between the intersections of Washington & Pleasant Grove and Washington & Junction).  Every Friday night there from 5-8 is beer tasting, pizza for sale from Bella Familia, and live music.  It's very family friendly with lots of kids.  Scott makes the best woodfired pizza, and usually while wearing a kilt!  I'm getting The Pig, The Fig and The Goat.

The Pig, The Fig and The Goat - figs, goat cheese,
 mozzarella, and ham.   Yum!

After the show we'll probably take a short walk down the block and spring for dessert or coffee at The Place or Java Jungle.

Then on Saturday we are super looking forward to Movie in the Park at Woodbridge Park with Despicable Me - we've seen it before and it's a favorite of ours. Steve Carrell's Eastern European accent as Gru the supervillain who turns into the Superdad of three adorable orphans (sorry that was probably a little bit of a spoiler, but the poster spoiled it before I did)

Movies in the Park in Roseville are sponsored by RCONA (Roseville Coalition of Neighborhood Associations)

Here's the info direct from the RCONA site:

  1. Today Caroline and I are going to check out Toby Keiths I love this Bar and Grill in Folsom. I have wanted to check it out since it opened and because Phil Vassar will be there tonight we figured it was a good night to check it out. Saturday Ed has been driving his 96 yo Grandpa around to check on his crops and then after that I might be dragging Ed kicking and screaming to go pick out baby furniture and to get me some maternity clothes. On Sunday I just plan to clean out the babies room and house. My Aunt, Uncle and cousins are coming out from GA,VA and FL. It will be a fun filled coming week. -Mary

  2. That's so cool Anonymous Mary - I love Phil Vassar. Let me know how the food is after you go too. You should drag Ed kicking and screaming all the way out to Roseville for the shopping so I can tag along. Sunday I'm hoping to stay in and clean too - I'm so excited for a weekend without appraisal inspections finally! Thanks for commenting :)

  3. Hmm we were probably going to go to ghetto Fairfield since it is closer. But if Ed wants to go to Roseville I'll give you a call. Any ideas of where we should look for furniture besides babies r us? I looked online at pottery barn but there wasn't really anything I liked online.

  4. Hmm - if you didn't like Pottery Barn's stuff are you wanting something more modern looking? B/C Ikea is a great place that people don't usually think about for baby stuff. If you do like traditional but just not Pottery Barn, JC Penney has a lot of stuff in their catalog - be warned though, we got our changing table from them as a gift from Keith's mom (the exact one we wanted) and it is very cute but the drawers are somewhat flimsy - we've had to put the door back on one drawer a few times. I'm still happy with our choice b/c it's so pretty but just know that.

If you are ok with spending a little bit more at a boutique (Goore's type prices/quality), there's actually one of the only ones I know that's left in Folsom since you're going out there tonight - it's called Starlight Starbright (website is shopstarlightstarbright.com). Other than that I think Target or Walmart is it - most of the indie baby boutiques are gone.

Good luck and keep me posted what you end up choosing!
